What is a Master in Management (MiM)?

A Master in Management is a one- to two-year, full-time postgraduate business degree built for early-career candidates — typically people with a recent bachelor's degree and zero to two years of work experience. Most European MiMs are taught largely or entirely in English, combine a core management curriculum with electives, internships and often an exchange term, and are designed to launch a career in consulting, finance, tech or industry rather than to accelerate an established one. That early-career focus is what separates it from an MBA.

How is a MiM different from an MBA?

The difference is career stage, not subject. A MiM is a pre-experience degree: cohorts are younger, little or no professional experience is required, and fees are usually far lower. An MBA targets mid-career professionals with several years of work behind them, costs considerably more, and leans on that experience in the classroom. How much does a Master in Management in Europe cost?

Some public universities — in Germany, the Nordics and elsewhere — charge little or no tuition, while the top private grandes écoles and business schools run well into the tens of thousands of euros for the full programme. Is a Master in Management worth it?

Do I need the GMAT for a MiM in Europe?

Not always. Many European MiMs accept the GMAT or GRE, a growing number are test-optional, and some require no admissions test at all — relying instead on your transcript, essays and interview. Most programmes open in the early autumn and run several rounds through to the following spring or summer, and many admit on a rolling basis — assessing files as they arrive until places fill.
